A special Zumba event has raised £2,500 to help those affected by war-torn Ukraine.
Maura Frith, who runs Zumba with Maura, hosted a Zumbathon for the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Fund on Thursday, March 31 at the Guild Hall in Cheadle.
The evening saw participants dress up in blue and yellow wear in honour of the Ukrainians they were raising money for.
The event, which was open to all, also included a large raffle with prizes donated by many local businesses.
Maura said: “What a night, what a crowd, what an atmosphere.
“The power of Cheadle people and Cheadle businesses is beyond belief. You are all incredible.
“We all feel the same as we watch the terrible scenes (of Ukraine) on the telly but we danced for Ukraine with our hearts.
“Thanks to all the local businesses that donated fantastic raffle prizes, to all the ladies who baked the most amazing cakes and biscuits for our cake stall.
“For all participants and spectators who turned up and donated, and also to those who couldn’t make the event but donated.”
Maura added: “Special thanks to Sue and Meg Harris who set up a Justgiving page to get sponsors and raised over £600 to add to the total….the total is now £2,500.”
