SCHOOL children have been helping to spruce up their town with a green-fingered activity. The annual Uttoxeter in Bloom 'Plant Out at the Park' took place last Wednesday. The gardening initiative at the Bramshall Road Recreation Ground had been scheduled to take place this year on June 11, but was put back until June 19 due to weather conditions.
A total of 147 plant plugs were planted throughout the day by youngsters from the town’s four first school’s.
Promoting Uttoxeter in Bloom’s ‘Bee Friendly Borough’, the plants included: Bidens Golden Eye, Cosmos, Calocephalus and Begonia Semperflorens.
This year celebrates the 20th plant out and each participating youngster was given a Bloom goody bag in recognition of this milestone year.
