Volunteers set shining example

VILLAGERS turned out in force to volunteer their time and clean up their streets.

More than 20 people turned out for the Kingsley Clean Up on Sunday.

And, the group collected only three bags of rubbish, as there was less litter compared to an event earlier in the year when 10 bags had been filled.

Martyn Hordern, organiser and chairman of Kingsley Village Hall, said: “Given the numbers we had, it was decided that we were to concentrate on certain areas in the village that are in full view, along with getting people to work in the areas where they live.

“That saw sections of High Street strimmed and weeded, the area around the phone kiosk cut back and strimmed and the driveway to the hall and cemetery cut back.
