Town’s first NHS baby celebrates milestone birthday

By timesecholife on in All News, Community News

THE first baby in Cheadle to be registered on the NHS celebrated her 70th birthday at the weekend, sharing the same birthday week as the National Health Service.

Josephine Lee (nee Matner) was surprised by her family and around 70 of her friends with a party on Saturday at the town’s cricket club venue.

The mother-of-three turned 70 just two days after the NHS celebrated it’s 70th anniversary as the UK’s free healthcare service.

Her three daughters, eldest, Jackie Lee and twins Anna Brian and Lisa Lawton organised the party at Cheadle Cricket Club for Saturday night.

Josie, who was born at Prince George Street in Cheadle, said the day was the same as any other but made special by the connection with the NHS 70 anniversary.
