Town prepares to Remember

REMEMBRANCE events will take place across the Uttoxeter area and the nation today to mark Armistice Day.

And further commemorations will be held on Remembrance Sunday this weekend.

Uttoxeter’s Remembrance Parade and Act of Remembrance will take place on Sunday morning.

Organised by the Royal British Legion, Uttoxeter branch and Uttoxeter Town Council, the parade will leave The Maltings car park at 10.45am, arriving at the War Memorial at 11am.

Musicians and singers from Uttoxeter will also play a key part in Remembrance events in the town.

Uttoxeter Town Band and The Heath Belles will give a concert on Saturday 13 November at St Mary’s Parish Church at 7.30pm.

The concert will celebrate 100 years of the Royal British Legion and admission is free, although a retiring collection will be taken.

A Poppy Afternoon Tea is planned for tomorrow (Thursday 11 November) at Uttoxeter Town Hall from 2pm to 4pm.

Remembrance Services on Sunday 14 November

Remembrance Parade will leave The Maltings car park in Uttoxeter at 10.45am to arrive at the War Memorial for Act of Remembrance at 11am.

Scouts will parade and lay wreaths at 10.45am at St Michael’s Church, Stramshall before the service takes place inside the church. Places are limited to 50 and can be booked by emailing

Rev Robert Ellis will conduct a Remembrance Service from 10am at St Peter’s Church, Marchington.

A Remembrance Service is at All Saints, Denstone from 10am.

A Remembrance Service at St Michael’s Church, Rocester starts at 10.30am.

A Service of Remembrance takes place at St John’s Church in Hollington at 12.30pm.

St Giles at Croxden will hold a Remembrance Service at 3pm.

A Remembrance Day Parade will gather at the MRA entrance at 9.55am to leave at 10.10am for a service at St John the Baptist Church, Mayfield, to be followed by banners and wreaths to be laid at the War Memorial in the churchyard.
