More than 2,500 plants have been planted in a Moorlands town as part of a community gardening initiative.
Members of Cheadle in Bloom were out in force on Sunday (May 29) carrying out their Summer planting programme.
A spokesman for the group said: “Cheadle has bloomed for the summer once again.
“On Sunday morning, our small, dedicated, regular work team were overwhelmed with support from many new members, friends and family, all working together to help make Cheadle look beautiful for the Jubilee celebrations and beyond.
“Having such a good turnout meant that the whole operation was finished in record time. The good(ish) weather was also much appreciated.”
They added: “Stats fans might like to know we planted 2,550 plants and put up 73 troughs and baskets.
“The main planting plan follows a Jubilee inspired red, white and blue colour scheme and is made of begonias, antirrhinums (snapdragons), lobelia, impatiens (Busy Lizzies) and petunias.
“A big ‘Thank You’ to all our volunteers and also to our local businesses and town and district council for their support and sponsorship throughout the year.
“Cheadle is looking lovely for the jubilee weekend and for the summer ahead. Fingers crossed for good weather.”
