PLANS TO LAUNCH A NEW OUTDOOR MARKET HAVE PROMPTED MIXED REACTIONS
PLANS to launch a new outdoor market in Cheadle have prompted a mixed reaction from civic leaders in the town.
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council wants to open a new Friday facility at Greyhound Walk, which connects the main Tape Street car park with High Street.
The authority will run the market for a 12-month trial period starting before Christmas and is already seeking interest from traders.
But a short consultation process on the proposal failed to include the town council, sparking a lively debate at Monday night’s meeting of the Development Services Committee.
