Town centre ban following arrest

A NUMBER of arrests have been made following a number of different incidents in Uttoxeter town centre. Two people were arrested by Staffordshire Police on Thursday, May 16 following a spate of shoplifting and burglaries within the East Staffordshire town centre; while the following day, on Friday, May 17, a woman was arrested by officers after a “targeted attack” on a business premises. A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “Two people were arrested on Thursday, May 16 in connection with a number of incidents in Uttoxeter of shoplifting and a burglary.

Anthony John Cockerham, aged 38 of Elmwood Grove in Uttoxeter, was charged with the burglary of a shop in Uttoxeter on April 22, 2019 and bailed to appear before magistrates in Newcastle on June 18.

A 36 year-old woman from Uttoxeter also arrested in connection with a theft from a shop, was released under investigation pending further enquiries.”

With regards to the separate arrest on Friday, May 17, the police spokesman said: “We received a call at around 6.10am on Friday, May 17 reporting damage being caused to the front door of a shop on Market Place in Uttoxeter.

Diane Moore, aged 52 of Shobnall Road in Burton was arrested and later charged with harassment and four counts of criminal damage following the targeted attack.

She was bailed to appear before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on June 4. She has been given bail conditions not to enter Uttoxeter town centre until their court appearance.”
