VOLUNTEERS bidding to renew Uttoxeter's status as a Fairtrade town have praised the value of the initiative and the support they've received from the community.
Members of a steering group have applied to organisers of the scheme in a bid to retain the accreditation won by the town 12 months ago.
They have described the project so far as a ‘terrific success’ and say the support from the town council, businesses, schools and residents has been ‘overwhelming’.
Janet Dean, chair of the steering group, said “We started a campaign towards Fairtrade status in October, 2015 and finally achieved accreditation on February 23 last year.
