A brother and sister duo from the Moorlands have completed a climb up Mount Snowdon – all in aid of charity.
Six-year-old Oakley Lawton, and his sister Ivy, aged five, have walked to the top of Snowdon, with their family, to raise funds to help those affected by war-torn Ukraine.
The youngsters, who attend Woodcroft Academy in Leek, completed the energetic challenge in Wales on Good Friday (April 15).
Their mum Lynsey Lawton, said: “We had a fantastic hike, Oakley and Ivy really gave it everything they had.
“We completed the full hike up to the trig point and back again, a total of 10.5 miles. We are so proud of them.”
Lynsey continued: “They have raised £1,030 in sponsors so far, which has been absolutely amazing.
“We never imagined we would get so many sponsors.
‘The support from the town and family and friends has been lovely.”
She added: “The ‘little Ted’ who Ivy is holding at the trig point was a good luck charm given to them by Leek Town Crier Bill. The kids wanted to take little Ted up to the top with us.”
Oakley said: “The climb was really fun. I’m really happy we got to the top and how many sponsors we have had. The next mountain I want to climb is Ben Nevis.”
Ivy said: “I loved Snowdon. I found it a bit hard in some bits but I didn’t give up.
“I loved reaching the top and feel proud that we did it.”
