BURGLARS have stolen a car worth £4,000 and caused around £1,000 worth of damage to a motor showroom in the Moorlands. It is understood that a car showroom within Brookhouse Service Station, which is located on The Green in Cheadle, was broken into in the early hours of yesterday - Tuesday, July 23. Steadman's Garage business owner Martin Steadman said that, going from CCTV footage from the area, the incident happened at around 12.30am
He told the Times and Echo: “Two young lads forced their way through the outside door, forced themselves into the showroom, broke into the offices then broke into a locked draw and stole keys.
“They then forced open the showroom windows and stole a Red Vauxhall Corsa VXR.
“It’s worth £4,000.
“They’ve caused about a thousand’s worth of damage, too.”
Describing the vehicle as “sporty-looking,” Mr Steadman said the registration of the car was SV11 XKW.
Mr Steadman, who has been at the garage for five years, has never had a break-in before.
He added: “It’s upsetting.
“We will have to up security.
“Obviously, it is a little bit of a set back but I’ve overcome it, it’s not the end of the world, nobody has been hurt.”
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police confirmed that they were called about the incident.
They told the Times and Echo: “Officers were called to a report of a burglary at Brookhouse Service Station on The Green at 5.50am on 23 July.
“It is believed the suspects forced entry and a red Vauxhall Corse VXR was taken.
“Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 70 of July 23.”
Alternatively anyone with any information about this incident and/or the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle, can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through the charity’s website.
