Theme park goes back to basics with new Pods plan

By timesecholife on in All News, Community News

MAJOR plans have been revealed for new guest accommodation at Alton Towers.

Bosses want to build more than 100 camping pods in the Enchanted Village of the theme park.

An application submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council also features a reception building, shower and toilet facilities, entertainment tipis and support units alongside a new parking area.

It represents the second phase of significant development designed to encourage more visitors to stay at the resort and is expected to create around 35 part-time jobs.

Some 61 lodges and 10 tree houses, along with a restaurant, were opened at the Enchanted Village in 2015 in the initial phase of the scheme.

Permission to build 35 extra lodges and associated buildings was granted in 2016, but plans for the 1.88 hectare site have now been revised.
