Tree to mark special occasions
A tree has been planted in a Moorlands town’s main park in recognition of two special events. A special plaque for The VE Day and Queens Platinum Jubilee Tree in Tean Road Recreation Grounds, was unveiled on Thursday (June 2).

VE Day celebrations go online for 75th anniversary
This year marks the 75th anniversary of that monumental day and there had been lots of community events planned for Friday (May 8) to help celebrate the anniversary.

Lots of entertainment scheduled for VE Day celebrations
A PACKED schedule of celebrations for the 75th anniversary of VE Day has been organised for a Moorlands town. A street party, the special planting of a dedicated tree and even the possibility of a fly-over are just some of the events set for Cheadle to mark the day in 1945 when allied forces in World War II accepted the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany. The weekend of jovial community activity will begin on Friday, May 8 and last until Sunday, May 10.
