“Mindless” vandalism at heritage railway

Toilets closed due to vandalism

Public loos at a Moorlands bus station have been closed “for the foreseeable future” due to vandalism. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC), which manages the toilets which are situated on Leek Bus Station, has made the closure decision due to “running into thousands of pounds” of costs in repairing the facilities after continued vandalism.

“This will not deter our positivity” – states council

A council has stated that they remain positive about a new community reassurance programme at a town’s rec – despite there being a series of vandalism incidents recently. According to Cheadle Town Council, which looks after the Tean Road Recreation Ground site, the incidents happened on Wednesday (July 28) and also on Friday (July 30); and they involved a group of teenagers “kicking in” the door of the grounds’ bowling pavilion.

Sports facilities damaged by vandals – again

SPORTING members of the public are getting “annoyed” that their changing room facilities are “repeatedly” being broken into and damaged. The concern comes after further vandalism has been discovered at the changing rooms on Tean Road Recreational Grounds in Cheadle. Bird in Hand Football Team is one of the remaining teams using the site to train and play games. The team's manager Dan James told the Times & Echo that paint had been discovered “chucked all over the floor” of the changing rooms building last Thursday (September 12), and that it was soon realised that the culprits had got in via the roof and then managed to unscrew the hinges off the door from the inside.

Town hall to increase security after vandalism

NUMEROUS incidents of vandalism on a town hall in East Staffordshire has prompted action from the town council. Three incidents in May have prompted Uttoxeter Town Council, who are situated at Uttoxeter Town Hall in the High Street, to up their security of the building following the damage. Graffiti was found on the town hall in May, and then on May 25 a young person gained access to the balcony of the building after climbing up the front of the building, having to be rescued by firefighters, with police also in attendance at the incident.

Garden sheds and toilet block damaged by ‘mindless vandalism’

GARDEN sheds, fencing and a public toilet block have been damaged after 'mindless vandalism' caused a fire by a town's recreation grounds. The incident happened at around 7pm last Wednesday (May 22) at the back of the recreation grounds in Tean Road, Cheadle. Staffordshire Police have confirmed that they were called to a report of a shed fire on Mill Road, Cheadle at around 7.30pm on May 22.
