Tribute act lined up for party entertainment

A tribute act is set to provide the entertainment for a community extravaganza in East Staffordshire this weekend. The Springsteen tribute band ‘Glory Days’ will be at Uttoxeter’s Party on the Pitch, a charity event which begins on Friday (June 10) at Oldfields Sports and Social Club.

Joining forces to litter pick

A community group is extending its youth programme by joining forces with a school in town. Youngsters and staff from Tynsel Parkes Academy met up, on Wednesday (May 25), with members of the Uttoxeter Lions to carry out a large scale litter pick at Bramshall Park.

Lions and business club together

An East Staffordshire business has clubbed together with a community group to help out a young chap in his new flat. The Lions Club of Uttoxeter was approached recently to help a young man kit out his new residence with carpet. The community group called upon WN Davies Carpet and Flooring Specialist in Uttoxeter to help with the kind-hearted project.

Christmas Cracker cancelled because of coronavirus

A CHRISTMAS celebration which raises funds for good causes has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Uttoxeter Lions announced the cancellation of the Christmas Cracker this week – following on from a decision not to hold the annual Bonfire and Fireworks display earlier this month.

Lions ride to the rescue

A COMMUNITY organisation came to the rescue recently after a riding school for the disabled became afloat after torrential downpours of rain. On Friday, October 25, and Saturday October 26, our area had its worst flooding for many years and Scropton Riding School for the Disabled was one of the organisations affected. All their paddocks were under water and road access was cut off. Fortunately the stables were on higher ground so the 28 horses and ponies were safe, but the school lost valuable revenue over the weekend.

Simply the beer and entertainment for festival

A COMMUNITY organisation will be hosting it's annual beer festival this weekend. This year's Uttoxeter Lions annual Beer Festival, which is now called Party on the Pitch, is on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 and the organisers are promising that it is set to be better than ever. The Friday entertainment features covers band ‘Play it again Sam’ and headlining is ‘Simply the Best’, a Tina Turner tribute act.
