Aid support groups team up for Ukraine

An aid support initiative in the Moorlands has helped a similar scheme with its latest humanitarian aid campaign. The Leek and Cheddleton Aid Support for Ukraine Centre, which is based at Bank House in Leek, has provided lots of much-needed medical supplies and other donations, which were picked up by representatives of Ambulance Aid yesterday (Tuesday, May 3) and are now making their way to help those affected by war-torn Ukraine.

Top of the mountain for siblings

A brother and sister duo from the Moorlands have completed a climb up Mount Snowdon – all in aid of charity. Six-year-old Oakley Lawton, and his sister Ivy, aged five, have walked to the top of Snowdon, with their family, to raise funds to help those affected by war-torn Ukraine.

A former Leek College teacher who has, with his family, made it safely to Leek from war-torn Ukraine, has vowed he will never go back to the country. We first reported in the Leek & Moorlands Echo about Harry Richardson when he, and his Ukrainian wife Alina, made a heart-felt plea video to the world from a bunker where they, along with many others, had been sheltering in Ukraine after the current Russian invasion on the country began.

An amazing £5,000 raised at Fox Aid

The organisers of a fund-raising event in Leek to help the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine have hailed it a massive success following a day of live music. FoxAid took place throughout the day on Sunday (March 20) at the Foxlowe Arts Centre in Leek with a host of local bands volunteering their time to play from 1pm until 10.30pm.
