Visor design boosts school PPE production

VISORS designed by a Uttoxeter school teacher are being copied around the world as schools and businesses scramble to provide kit for frontline medics. Graeme Quigley, Head of Design and Technology at Thomas Alleyne’s High School, created a reusable visor design that can be made in school using a laser cutter. Organisations and schools across the UK – and the world – are using Graeme’s design after he posted a video tutorial which has now been downloaded more than 6,000 times.

Nurses, doctors, NHS staff, GP surgery staff and carers are among the many key workers needing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). But as global demand is on the rise, some a struggling to get hold of masks, visors and other equipment such as disposable aprons and gloves.

Cheadle and Uttoxeter schools in top five across county

SCHOOLS in Cheadle and Uttoxeter are among the top five in the county according to latest figures. Painsley Catholic College, Cheadle and Thomas Alleynes High School in Uttoxeter were placed third and fourth respectively in the Staffordshire league tables for secondary schools. Moorside High School at Cellarhead was ranked sixth, with The Cheadle Academy in 14th place.
