The Cheadle Town Council funded Community Reassurance Programme at Tean Road Recreation Ground in Cheadle has seen lots of community engagement take place at the site by youth worker Nicky Derrett and volunteer Annie Devereux who have been delivering the programme since last Summer.

Residents in a Moorlands town have come together to enjoy a community picnic. The Bring & Share Community Picnic took place at Tean Road Recreation Ground in Cheadle last Tuesday (July 26).

A tree has been planted in a Moorlands town’s main park in recognition of two special events. A special plaque for The VE Day and Queens Platinum Jubilee Tree in Tean Road Recreation Grounds, was unveiled on Thursday (June 2).

A town council had some trials and tribulations at the weekend as their well-planned Jubilee celebrations came across some hurdles. Cheadle Town Council had spent months planning a four-day celebration for Tean Road Recreation Ground as part of the nation’s Platinum Jubilee.

A dog and his owner have been praised for helping to find a missing phone in a town’s park. Cheadle Town Clerk Dave Mullington has explained to the Cheadle & Tean Times how teamwork between the council’s Community Reassurance Programme at Tean Road Recreation Ground and a dog walker and his pooch, helped to find a teenager’s mobile phone recently.

A community reassurance programme which is proving to be a success at a town’s park is set to continue – at least for another month. The initiative, which is currently being funded and trialed by Cheadle Town Council, has seen lots of community engagement take place on the Tean Road Recreation Ground by youth worker Nicky Derrett and volunteer Annie Devereux who have been delivering the programme for the past eight weeks.

A youth competition which was set to take place at the weekend in the Moorlands was postponed due to the wet weather at the weekend. The first ever Cheadle Skate Trix Tournament was set to take place at the Tean Road recreation Ground in Cheadle on Saturday (August 21) but the organisers, which included Cheadle Town Council in conjunction with teenager Lewis Hide, decided to cancel the event on safety grounds due to downpours of rain at the weekend.

A council has stated that they remain positive about a new community reassurance programme at a town’s rec – despite there being a series of vandalism incidents recently. According to Cheadle Town Council, which looks after the Tean Road Recreation Ground site, the incidents happened on Wednesday (July 28) and also on Friday (July 30); and they involved a group of teenagers “kicking in” the door of the grounds’ bowling pavilion.

A PARK attendant could be employed to oversee the safety of people using a recreation field in the Moorlands after a town councillor mooted the idea at a council meeting this week. During Cheadle Town Council's meeting on Monday (October 7), councillor Ian Whitehouse put forward the suggestion that both Tean Road and Churchill Road recreations grounds could be assigned a park attendant who park users can go to if they have a problem or query. He said: “I think we should look at the idea of having a park attendant on Tean Road rec and at Churchill Road rec too.
