Guild Hall roof project has lift off

A project to renovate the roof of a community building has begun but more funds are needed to complete the “ambitious, but necessary” project. Almost two years ago plans were drawn up to embark on a major project to remove the original tiles from the Guild Hall roof in Cheadle and to replace them with a new, modern and energy efficient product. On Monday, those plans will begin to come to fruition as work is set to start on the renovation of the Guild Hall’s roof.

Two weeks of night time road closures

Work to improve roads in a Moorlands town is continuing – with a fortnight of night time road closures. Staffordshire County Council are currently carrying out carriageway resurfacing works on Tape Street, High Street and Leek Road in Cheadle.

Green light for highways funding

Two well-used highways junctions in the Cheadle area are set to be improved – now that funding has been given the green light by community leaders. A £42.7 million package of highways improvements and transport schemes for across the county for the 2020/21 financial year has been announced by Staffordshire County Council. These include almost £250,000 for two projects in the Cheadle area.
