Police are warning dog owners to keep their pets under control after two dogs killed a number of sheep in the Moorlands. Police were called at 7am on Saturday (April 24) to farmland on Rectory Road in Hollington following reports of animals injured.

Visitors at scenic spots in the Moorlands have been issued with fines surrounding breaking the current Covid-19 rules. It is understood that the £200 fines were issued at a number of scenic Moorlands spots on Saturday (January 9) including in Alton and Froghall.

Police are appealing for witnesses after criminal damage was caused to a community building in the Moorlands. The incident happened at The Blythe Centre in Uttoxeter Road in Blythe Bridge on the evening of January 4.

Detectives have launched an investigation into four burglaries which all took place on the same day in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Properties in Draycott, Cheadle, and Checkley, were targeted between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday, December 2.

Partners from the Staffordshire Local Resilience Forum (LRF) have issued a plea to residents to take extra care when celebrating Halloween and Bonfire Night this autumn. The pandemic and government restrictions on social gatherings have put a halt to traditional trick or treating and organised firework displays and people are being encouraged to find alternative ways of marking these calendar events safely and practically.

Police are investigating the 'sudden death' of a woman in the Moorlands. The body of a 37-year-old woman was found at an address in Cheadle Road, Upper Tean on Saturday (September 19) morning.

A TRAVELLER camp has brought a halt to community support projects in Uttoxeter. The Uttoxeter Heath Community Centre had to temporarily close its doors on Sunday as caravans and vehicles parked on a grassed area at the site posed a Covid-19 risk to people using the facility.

A PET cat has been shot with a pellet gun in Uttoxeter over the weekend. The cat suffered a puncture wound which needed veterinary treatment, but has survived. Staffordshire Police have launched an appeal for information about the incident.
