A main road through a Moorlands village was closed for some time this week after part of a former public house collapsed with debris falling into the road. Fortunately no one was hurt when part of the former Blacks Head pub in Tean collapsed on Monday (September 6) lunchtime. The whole building has since been taken down due to health and safety concern.

Police are warning vehicle owners to be vigilant after a series of catalytic converter thefts have taken place in the Moorlands. The warning has been sent out by Staffordshire Police after three incidents of such thefts in Cheadle and Cheddleton.

Several rescue centres from across the Moorlands have pulled together to help 11 dogs in need. Police were called to an address in Cheadle last Wednesday (July 21) following reports of concern for the safety of an adult who was then taken to hospital.

A total of 19 arrests were made and two people safeguarded during a busy week of ‘County Lines’ action for Staffordshire Police recently. The force has stated that officers arrested 15 men and one woman, as well as three boys, on suspicion of drugs offences.

Police are warning people across the Moorlands and East Staffordshire to ensure their properties are secure after four burglaries where people have entered via an unlocked door occurred in a matter of hours. The incidents, in Coppenhall and Bradley, both near Stafford, Codsall, and Kingsley Holt, near Cheadle, all happened yesterday on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 18.

A Moorlands resident is calling for more to be done by councils and the police regarding fly-tipping in the area. Cheadle resident Dean Powell, who is part of the Cheadle Moorlands Litter Pickers group, has contacted the Times & Echo with even more issues surrounding fly-tipping within the area. He has also set out his suggestions on how he feels this issue could be tackled.

A week-long crackdown on catalytic convertor thefts has led to a decline in offences across Staffordshire. Part of a national crackdown on the offences led by the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC), the week of action ran between April 19 and 23.
