Stakeholder panel meeting minutes have been published

The minutes of the first meeting of a new group, which has been set up to consult on the future of a Moorlands town, have been published. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) has formed a Stakeholder Panel to help support a Delivery Board which will be overseeing the development and delivery of a Cheadle Town Centre Project.

Plans are in the pipeline for a major investment in Blythe Bridge and Forsbrook. On Tuesday (February 9) Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s cabinet rubber-stamped a £200,000 cash pot for a ‘Forsbrook Community Project.’

No bi-election for vacant councillor positions

Last week we reported that Cheadle Town Council had agreed to defer advertising for the co-option of two casual vacancies which have become available on their council. One position in Cheadle North East Ward became vacant following the passing of councillor Ian Whitehouse, who sadly passed away on November 30; while the vacancy in the Cheadle South East Ward became available when former councillor Peter Elkin decided to step down to retire in December.

Residents and businesses are being asked to share their views on parking across the Staffordshire Moorlands. The invitation for views to be expressed has been made by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) as the authority, which has responsibility for many car parks across the district including a number in Cheadle, is currently reviewing its parking strategy.

Call-in on disabled facilities funding for leisure centre

A council decision to go ahead and spend £25,000 on improving disabled facilities at a Moorlands leisure centre has been ‘called-in’ by community leaders. Earlier this month Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Communities, councillor Mike Bowen, approved – through a ‘delegated decision’ - a proposal to spend £25,000 to help provide a special facility to allow disabled users to access and use the facilities at South Moorlands Leisure Centre in Cheadle.
