Arson attack on town park

Multiple fire crews tackled a large blaze in Cheadle this week – a fire which had been deliberate, according to the fire service. It is understood that several separate fires were deliberately lit on a piece of land off Park Lane, near to the town centre in the early evening of Monday (April 26).

Partners from the Staffordshire Local Resilience Forum (LRF) have issued a plea to residents to take extra care when celebrating Halloween and Bonfire Night this autumn. The pandemic and government restrictions on social gatherings have put a halt to traditional trick or treating and organised firework displays and people are being encouraged to find alternative ways of marking these calendar events safely and practically.

Staff and visitors assessed after waterpark closed

A POPULAR waterpark in the Moorlands has temporarily closed this week after staff and visitors reported irritation to their eyes and throat. The incident happened at Alton Towers Resort at around 1pm on Monday (March 2). A total of 39 people - 33 adults and six children – were assessed by medical staff while an investigation “focusing on air quality” was carried out by Staffordshire Fire & Rescue.

Warning following high number of accidents

STAFFORDSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service is urging motorists to take extra care following a recent spate of road traffic collisions throughout the county in the last two weeks. Since June 21, there have been 30 road traffic collisions in the county, two thirds of which involved casualties - sadly two of them were fatal. Understandably, the most dangerous time of day for this type of incident is around 8am, when most people are trying to get to work, take their children to school etc.
