A member of the public has been presented with the Staffordshire Fire & Rescue’s Chief Fire Officer’s (CFO) Commendation award after helping to save a man’s life last year. Debbie Swinson, aged 56, from Cheadle, was on shift at the petrol station in Brookhouses, Cheadle on July 27, 2021 when a man caught fire.

A bedroom blaze that broke out at a property in the Moorlands is believed to have been accidentally caused by an overheated phone charger, emergency services say. Members of the Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service were called to a home on Leek Road in Cheadle after receiving reports of a fire at the dwelling on Monday afternoon (December 13).

A house fire at a Moorlands property, in which an elderly woman was tragically found deceased, was caused accidentally, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service has confirmed. Firefighters were called to a blaze on Castle Hill Road in Alton at around 10.05am on Friday (December 10) with crews from Cheadle, Ipstones, Leek and Longton all attending the scene.

Staffordshire Police are currently investigating the cause of a fire that broke out on Tape Street in Cheadle at the weekend. Staffordshire Fire & Rescue crews were called out to extinguish the blaze, which occurred near Iceland food store just after 9pm on Sunday (December 6).

A main road through a Moorlands village was closed for some time this week after part of a former public house collapsed with debris falling into the road. Fortunately no one was hurt when part of the former Blacks Head pub in Tean collapsed on Monday (September 6) lunchtime. The whole building has since been taken down due to health and safety concern.

A VILLAGE fire station is in line for a revamp – and the crew based there is on the look-out for new recruits. Seven retained firefighters are currently assigned to the station at Abbots Bromley, which will undergo an internal renovation this year.
