Theatre review: Joe Pasquale is the perfect Frank Spencer in Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em At The Regent

Those of us of a certain age will remember fondly the manic stunts of Michael Crawford as Frank Spencer in the TV show Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em, alongside Michelle Dotrice as his long suffering wife Betty. “Oohh Betty” became the catchphrase all the impressionists of the day used when portraying the accident prone Spencer, though bizarrely the phrase was only ever used once throughout the series which ran from 1973 to 1978.

Bat Out Of Hell rocks at The Regent

Theatre goers to the Regent in Hanley for the opening night of Bat Out of Hell on Tuesday (April 26), featuring Jim Steinman’s and Meatloaf’s hits, were greeted to the amazing sight of 44 Harleys riding in and parking in Piccadilly outside the theatre from 6.30pm. This was to celebrate both Bat Out of Hell’s opening night in Stoke-on-Trent and the 10th Anniversary of the Stoke Chapter of the Harley Owners Group.

Council to review tourism services

Concern has been raised as a town’s tourist information centre, along with neighbouring museum and gallery, currently remain closed. Both the Leek Tourist Information Centre (TIC), and the Nicholson Museum and Gallery, which are housed within the Nicholson Institute in Stockwell Street, have remained closed for a time, due to the pandemic.

Boundary review is now underway

Parliamentary constituencies are set to be reviewed over the next few years. Following the passing of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 2020 in December 2020, and the publication of the relevant Parliamentary electorate data in January 2021, the Boundary Commission for England has now begun a new review of all Parliamentary constituencies in England.
