Large poppies on pub to remember the fallen

THE MANAGER of a village pub has pulled out all the stops to remember the fallen this autumn. Danni Molloy, who has run the Blacksmiths Arms in Kingsley for the past 18 months, has painted bright red poppies all over the Shawe Park Road establishment as a way to raise awareness about the forthcoming remembrance commemorations and also to raise money for this year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal as well as Help for Heroes. Battle’s Over – communities join international tribute

BEACONS of light will shine out across the UK to mark the day the guns fell silent at the end of the Great War. An international campaign of Remembrance will see towns and villages across the country and beyond hold special services and light specially designed beacons to mark 100 years since the end of the conflict. Cheadle, Dilhorne, Croxden, Rocester, Kingsley, Cotton, Draycott-in-the-Moors and Cheddleton and Wetley Rocks are all taking part in the 'Battle's Over' commemoration on Sunday, November 11.

Poppies plan for town centre project

CRAFTERS, schoolchildren and town centre businesses are joining together to create a special hand-made trail of Remembrance through Cheadle. Community groups, nurseries and schools have been drafted in to make displays with a Remembrance theme for shop windows in the town's High Street. And knitters, quilters and crocheters are being asked to contribute to a special fabric cascade of poppies which will be displayed in the town centre.
