Police cordoned off a residential street in the Moorlands at the weekend to search a property regarding a firearms arrest. Staffordshire Police made the arrest of a 29-year-old man in Churchill Road in Cheadle on Sunday (May 30).

SEVEN lambs and one ewe have been killed by dogs at farmland near Uttoxeter. Staffordshire Police have warned dog owners to keep their pets under control after the incident.

Groups have been gathering near a car park in Forsbrook, leaving evidence of drug and alcohol use. Police have been informed and Forsbrook Parish Council are calling for further measures to discourage people from gathering in the area.

THREE people - including a Special Constable - were injured as Uttoxeter’s pubs and bars reopened. The constable suffered ‘severe facial injuries’ in an incident in Market Place and two people were treated by ambulance crews after a brawl in Carter Street.

A THIRD theft of lambs in East Staffordshire has seen 13 lambs taken from a field at Denstone. The crime follows thefts of livestock at Yoxall and Needwood in the last few weeks. Police are investigating the thefts and are carrying out high visibility patrols in rural areas.

MORE than 30 vehicle defect notices were issued to drivers as police stopped cars with light defects and other faults in a road traffic operation in the Staffordshire Moorlands recently. The operation, which focused on rural areas in and around Cheadle, Leek and Biddulph ran for two weeks and was part of Staffordshire Police’s new roads policing plan named Operation Lightning. The forces latest operation aims to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on the county’s roads and to disrupt and deter criminals’ use of the road network.

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a number of incidents across the Moorlands. Two bicycles were stolen from outside the Spar Shop in Forsbrook on Tuesday, September 17. A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “We are seeking any information about the theft of two push bikes from outside the Spar Shop in Forsbrook that occurred on Tuesday, September 17 between 6pm and 7.30pm.

POLICE have been handing out gardening tips to a Moorlands resident after they discovered a cannabis plant. The plant, which is classed as illegal to grow in this country, was found in a garden at a property near to Cheadle town centre earlier this month. A representative for Staffordshire Police had initially posted about the find on their Twitter page. They said: “Local officers in Cheadle have had to give out some gardening tips this afternoon.

SEVEN teenagers from Uttoxeter have been arrested after a late night robbery. A man was injured in the incident which is being investigated by Staffordshire Police. Officers from the force executed a number of warrants in the Uttoxeter area, resulting in arrests. Seven teenage boys have been bailed until Wednesday, February 6.

COMMUNITY leaders and the police are appealing for volunteers to help crack down on speeding in a town. Uttoxeter Town Council has been contacted by Staffordshire Police with regards to appealing for volunteers to help set up a Community Speedwatch in the East Staffordshire town. Community Speed Watch schemes aim to: Help local people address speeding problems in their own area; Increase driver and public awareness of the dangers of speeding and; Improve community safety.
