PROPOSALS to build a development of houses in the Moorlands is set to be decided upon tomorrow after it has been recommended by council officers for approval despite initial objections from nearby residents. Land adjacent to Rakeway Road in Cheadle is subject of a revised planning application that asks permission for three semi-detached houses to be built with off-street parking. This is an amended plan from developers Rob Duncan Planning Consultancy, who amended their plans “following concerns regarding the scale and suburban character and appearance of the scheme.”

A REVISED planning application has been submitted for an extension of a town's hotel. East Staffordshire Borough Council has received a revised planning application from Whitbread PLC for the “extension to the existing hotel to provide additional bedrooms, a new access, and associated alterations to car-parking and landscaping” of the existing Uttoxeter Premier Inn hotel which is situated off the A50 at the junction with Derby Road. The hotel was last extended following planning permission being granted in 2009 for the expansion from a 41 bedroomed facility to 75 bedrooms.

RESIDENTS have raised concern about a new housing development which they claim is being built higher than what was set out in the original plans. The concern surrounds the St Modwen Homes' Bramshall Meadows development in Uttoxeter – a planning application which was previously passed by East Staffordshire Borough Council. A number of residents from the area around the new development recently attended a Uttoxeter Town Council meeting to try and drum up support from newly-elected councillors.
