Trees of Remembrance at schools

Nine schools in the Moorlands have taken up an offer from a Rotary Club to plant three trees to remember the dark times of the pandemic. The trees, which have been donated by Leek Rotary Club, are a Beech, a Mountain Ash and a Silver Birch, and each are about two metres high and have been supplied with a sturdy stake and fertiliser.

An amateur theatre group has cancelled a planned show for a second time. Leek Musical Theatre has decided to cancel their presenting of the smash-hit musical ‘Sister Act’ for a second time – due to the pandemic.

Time capsules to mark moment in history

A RESIDENT from the Moorlands has started an initiative that has seen people from all around the world join together to create time capsules to remind future generations of the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had globally. Eve Goodyear from Cheadle thought up the idea with her children, wanting to mark this moment in time in a practical way. Her family have created a timeline of what has happened over the past few weeks amid the Covid-19 outbreak by placing newspaper cuttings and family trees and photos into a time capsule.
