Support service could lose funding

A community support service that is greatly relied upon by many in the area has told the Times & Echo it again faces uncertainty and could lose tens of thousands in funding from the North Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Clinical Commissioning Group next year. Moorlands Home Link helps more than 200 elderly people a week through various support services which includes a day centre in Cheadle and Meals on Wheels, as well as a Befriending and Phone Link Service.

Volunteers gain recognition from the High Sheriff

A charity which is based in Cheadle has received recognition from a High Sheriff. Staffordshire’s High Sheriff along with the Chairman of Staffordshire Moorlands have recently thanked some of the groups and individuals who have worked tirelessly to support their local communities during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Over the years we fundraised for more minibuses”

Last week, in our ‘Images of Yesteryear’ feature, we printed this picture which had been kindly shared with us by reader Jessie Collier. Jessie told us that she believed it to have been taken when Homelink had a new bus.
