A young boy in the Moorlands who has been growing his hair for almost two years – has had the long locks all cut off for charity. Faris Edge, aged nine of Leek, set the challenge himself to help the Little Princess Trust – which makes wigs from donated hair for young people with illness.

A group of schools has raised an amazing £120,000 for a global school feeding charity. The huge donation, which has been raised by the schools within The Painsley Catholic Academy, has been donated to Mary’s Meals.

Representatives from seven schools within The Painsley Catholic Academy (North) cycled 35 miles on Friday (October 9) to raise money for the global charity, ‘Mary’s Meals’. The two groups of five cyclists began their journey at St Mary’s Catholic Academy in Leek and then stopped off at each member school on the route to the final destination, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary school in Uttoxeter.

THE FOUNDER of a global charity has visited a Moorlands school to speak to youngsters about how the cash they are raising is being spent. Founder and Global Chief Executive of Mary’s Meals, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, took time out of his busy schedule recently to visit Painsley Catholic College in Cheadle. Magnus addressed all the students at the school along with representative students from its feeder primary schools; St Filumena’s in Caverswall, St Giles’ in Cheadle, St Joseph’s in Uttoxeter, St Thomas’s in Tean, St Mary’s in Leek and The Faber in Cotton.
