Fears over school patrol as drivers fail to stop

IMPATIENT motorists are putting children's lives at risk by driving around a lollipop man on a busy Cheadle road. Concerns over incidents involving the school crossing patrol in Tean Road were debated at a meeting of Cheadle Town Council on Monday. A letter from PCSO Mark Bridgwood raised “major concerns for the safety of the children and the school patrol.”

Fears over plan to axe crossing patrol funds

STAFFORDSHIRE County Council is inviting residents to have their say on proposals to axe funding for crossing wardens. The authority is proposing to no longer fund patrols from September 2019 as it states that it needs to close a £35million budget shortfall next year.

Council ask for clarity on cuts

CUTS to Staffordshire County Council's budget could push costs for some services onto Cheadle Town Council, members have warned. Councillors in Cheadle have agreed to ask the leader of Staffordshire County Council (SCC) to outline what services they may be expected to fund in the future. At a meeting of the town council's committees on Monday, October 1, Mayor Ian Plant proposed an invitation to Cllr Philip Atkins OBE.
