Community members have been responding to news that a council is now set to rebuild a leisure centre on its current site – rather than build a new one in a town centre car park. Last week we reported that Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) had produced a report surrounding the regeneration of Cheadle.

A survey surrounding the future of a Moorlands town is set to be sent out to residents next month. The news that consultants Filigree Communications are almost set to send out a survey surrounding the Cheadle Town Centre Projects (CTCP), which is set to be delivered by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC), was announced at the CTCP Stakeholder Meeting yesterday (Tuesday, June 22).

A COUNCIL is considering decreasing the size of a Moorlands town's swimming pool – after a review has been carried out focusing on it's leisure centres across the district. In a report conducted by a consultancy on behalf of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) it has been suggested to make a “smaller community pool and fitness offer” for the leisure services which the authority provides at South Moorlands Leisure Centre (SMLC) in Cheadle. The authority appointed FGM Consulting Limited in 2017 to review its leisure centre provision and sports facility needs, focusing on sports halls, swimming pools and other indoor provision.
