Kingsley Parish Council has explained the reasons behind why it is objecting to plans that could see the remodelling of the course at Whiston Hall Golf Club. The Times & Echo reported in November that the club had defended its plans to improve safety and solve drainage issues after the council raised major concerns over a large quantity of material proposed to be transported to the site.

A road that has been of particular concern to community leaders in relation to parking and driving safety is set for double yellow lines. Holt Lane between Kingsley Holt and Kingsley has seen significant traffic on weekdays with parents dropping off and picking up their children who attend St Werburgh’s Primary School.

Community leaders and the Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident of vandalism in a Moorlands village. A newly-erected fence surrounding community allotments and a recreation ground bin has been damaged in the village of Kingsley.

Community leaders have stated that they are behind a campaign for speed awareness signage and enforcement along a busy road in the Moorlands. The ‘Kingsley Moor Locals’ have campaigned for some time for speed reduction along the A522 from Cheadle to Cellarhead road following a number of road traffic collisions – including one fatal.

AN APPEAL is being made to help collate information about a fatal war-time crash in the Moorlands so that residents of the area can properly commemorate those who died in the incident – some seven decades later. Local historian Martyn Hordern is currently working with Kingsley Parish Council to commemorate six members of the Royal Air Force on the 76th anniversary of their deaths. Martyn explained: “Whilst researching Kingsley’s World War 1 history, the story of a little-known Halifax bomber crash on land off Blakeley Lane was uncovered.

A PARISH council has given thousands of pounds to a project team to help towards the regeneration of a recreation field. Kingsley Parish Council have confirmed that they have donated £10,000 to Kingsley Venture Valley Project Team for their plans to improve Kingsley Recreation Ground.
