A community group has stated that it is disappointed that their offer to purchase a former chapel in the Moorlands has been turned down. Last year, the Staffordshire Moorlands Methodist Circuit announced that it was set to put the former Kingsley Holt Chapel building up for sale.

A village group which aims to purchase a former chapel for community use, has raised £140,000 through a community share scheme. The ‘Kingsley Holt Centre’ group is aiming to purchase the Methodist Chapel in Kingsley Holt, which the Staffordshire Moorlands Methodist Circuit had previously announced that it is putting the building up for sale.

A community group in a Moorlands village is aiming to purchase a disused chapel building to have it “run and supported by the village for the village.” We reported in June this year that the Staffordshire Moorlands Methodist Circuit had announced proposals to sell the Kingsley Holt Chapel and it’s land but that members of the Kingsley Holt community were “taken aback” by the news and wished the premises to remain for community use.

Residents in a Moorlands village state they have been “taken aback” by news that a chapel is set to be sold. A notice has recently been pinned to the Kingsley Holt Chapel door indicating that the Staffordshire Moorlands Methodist Circuit has decided that the building and land are to be sold.
