Farmer sentenced for animal neglect

A livestock keeper from Staffordshire Moorlands has been given a 12 month community order, a £250 fine and ordered to pay £1,000 towards costs for animal neglect offences. Alan Belfield, aged 67 of High Street in Ipstones, pleaded guilty to 18 charges of animal neglect and failing to correctly dispose of the carcases of animals that had died.

Community pride for Rambling Wombles

A group of villagers have banded together to keep their community clean and tidy. Aptly named as the Rambling Wombles, the group in Ipstones are often spotted out and about cleaning, litter picking and carrying out other sprucing up activities within the scenic village.

A government inspector has reported that a Moorlands village school is on the road to improving. Ofsted inspector Kirsty Foulkes has visited St Leonard's CE (A) First School in Ipstones this Summer to carry out a ‘monitoring inspection.’

Farms dump milk due to lack of lorry drivers

A dairy farm in the Moorlands has had to tip away a whole days worth of milk due to a shortage of lorry drivers. As the nation continues with its apparent shortage of HGV drivers, a farm in Ipstones, run by the Gould family, was apparently not the only one in the area which had to dump litres of milk due to the driver shortage at the weekend.

Tribute has been paid to a Moorlands community stalwart who has passed away at the age of 80. Gwen Richardson, of Ipstones, spent more than half a century helping to organise the Ipstones Agricultural Show, and was also involved in several other organisations within the village.

A teenager who was inspired to take on a charity challenge in memory of her nan has raised more than £5,000. Izzie Klucznik, aged 14, decided to walk 400 miles during the school summer holidays in memory of her nan, Angie Klucznik, who died in 2018 after a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Izzie Klucznik, aged 14 of Ipstones, decided to walk 400 miles during the school summer holidays in memory of her nan, Angie Klucznik, who died in 2018 after a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) just three years earlier.

House blaze rescue drama

NEIGHBOURS in a Moorlands village came to the rescue of a teenager who was in a burning house. Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service were called to an incident in Brookfields Road in Ipstones yesterday afternoon (Tuesday). Three crews arrived at the scene after neighbours had managed to help a 16-year-old male out of the burning property by using a ladder to get to an upstairs window.
