A housing association says it is still “exploring the option” of constructing 21 new builds on Well Street in Cheadle. Your Housing Group (YHG) owns the specified land at Lightwood – subject to treasury and board approval – and could build the housing units if deemed suitable.

A public house in the Moorlands, which dated back to at least 1837, has been demolished. The former public house of The Flying Horse on Ashbourne Road in Leek has been completely demolished to make way for housing.

RESIDENTS have raised concern about a new housing development which they claim is being built higher than what was set out in the original plans. The concern surrounds the St Modwen Homes' Bramshall Meadows development in Uttoxeter – a planning application which was previously passed by East Staffordshire Borough Council. A number of residents from the area around the new development recently attended a Uttoxeter Town Council meeting to try and drum up support from newly-elected councillors.

A HOUSING plan for a Moorlands village has come under fire from community leaders and residents. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has received an “outline application with means of access for residential development of up to 14 dwellings” on land at Caverswall Old Road in Forsbrook.

The plan - to buy unused properties and rent them out - is set to focus on Cheadle North East as well as wards in Leek and Biddulph. But councillors for the Cheadle ward expressed doubts over the proposals.
