HIGHWAYS crews are to work six days a week to deliver a major new housing scheme in Blythe Bridge “as quickly as possible.” St Modwen has been granted planning permission to build almost 120 new homes within the Moorlands village and states that it needs to construct a site entrance, change the existing road lay out and install utilities as part of the scheme. A new pedestrian crossing, which is set to help people cross the road safely, will also be included in the works, along with new pavements on both sides of the road.

PROPOSALS for a large scale housing development in Uttoxeter have been given the green light by community leaders – despite the plans being recommended for refusal by a council officer. East Staffordshire Borough Council's planning committee decided, at their meeting on Wednesday, May 24, to pass plans for “an outline application for the erection of up to 148 dwellings, formation of town park and re-naturalisation of Picknall Brook and alteration of existing vehicular access off Hockley Road, Pinfold Street and Old Knotty Way including details of access”, at Bamford Works in Pinfold Street, Uttoxeter. The 'green light' decision came after an ESBC planning officer had recommended refusal of the proposals “based on the level of affordable housing being proposed by the applicants at this stage.”

A PROPOSED housing development for a Moorlands village has been given the red light by community leaders. The Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's Planning Committee has refused an “outline application with means of access for residential development of up to 14 dwellings” for land at Caverswall Old Road in Forsbrook. The plans, which had been recommended for refusal by an SMDC planning officer, had come under fire from councillors from both Forsbrook Parish Council and Caverswall Parish Council. The district council also received a further 33 letters of objection for the proposals, as well as 11 letters of support.
