Funding for all to get creative in town

A community group has been awarded funding to be able to encourage lots of folk in town to get creative this year. The funding, which has been awarded to Creative Cheadle by the National Lottery, is set to see a series of workshops taking place which will encourage residents and visitors of all ages to get creative with a focus on the Queens’ Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

A new fund has been officially launched to specifically help voluntary groups in Uttoxeter. We Love Uttoxeter was launched recently by The Community Foundation of Staffordshire, working with an advisory panel, who are set to help manage the promotion, fund-raising, and distribution of the grants.

Support service could lose funding

A community support service that is greatly relied upon by many in the area has told the Times & Echo it again faces uncertainty and could lose tens of thousands in funding from the North Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Clinical Commissioning Group next year. Moorlands Home Link helps more than 200 elderly people a week through various support services which includes a day centre in Cheadle and Meals on Wheels, as well as a Befriending and Phone Link Service.

U-turn on funding amid pandemic

A MEDICAL funding body has made a u-turn on scrapping funding for a Moorlands charity – amid the current coronavirus situation. The Times & Echo reported earlier last month that following a review by the North Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Clinical Commissioning Group, an annual grant of £70,000 which is awarded to Moorlands Home Link was under threat - along with additional funding for five other similar organisations in Stoke-on-Trent. Moorlands Home Link, which is a not for profit elderly care charity based in Cheadle, has received this funding for over 20 years for its Day Centre in Cheadle and the organisation's Outreach Groups across the Moorlands and the current funding had been guaranteed until June 2020.

A MUCH-VALUED service in the Moorlands is calling on members of the community to take part in a survey in a bid to help the organisation from folding. Talk of improving town’s market place

A COMMUNITY leader has said that he is looking at improving the state of a market place. Staffordshire County Council announced in January that each of the authority's 62 councillors will be allocated £20,000 each to prioritise highways works within their communities. The one-off funding, which is on top of annual funding for highways, comes after the county council was successful in securing an additional one-off £8.9 million for highways from the Government.
