A community group has re-clarified its intentions regarding a prominent Cheadle high street building after “misunderstanding” had led to questions over its motivations. Friends of the Royal Oak is currently fundraising for £950 which will allow them to access a £14,000 Architectural Heritage Fund grant to be put towards the acquisition of the former pub Royal Oak with a vision of making it into a community asset.

A community group which is aiming to save a historic building has received a cash boost. The Friends of the Royal Oak have announced that the Architectural Heritage Fund has awarded them a match funded grant of £14,000 in order to complete a Project Viability Study, related to the Royal Oak building on Cheadle’s High Street.
