A TEAM of Indian chefs have been helping to feed NHS staff during the current coronavirus situation. Staff from Roshni Restaurant in Forsbrook visited the Royal Stoke University Hospital last Wednesday (March 25) armed with around 100 curries for NHS workers to enjoy. Restaurant owner Muhammed Sami told the Times & Echo: “I just wanted to do something for the hard working NHS staff.

RESIDENTS in the villages of Forsbrook and Blythe Bridge are continuing to club together to look after the more vulnerable members of their community. Chairman of Forsbrook Parish Council Peter Jones said: “I am heartened by the community response and their call to action. “At this time we need to make sure we are all looking out for our neighbours.”

A VILLAGE in the Moorlands has come together to help the more vulnerable members of their community amid the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Forsbrook Parish Council has run an appeal parishioners to nominate “one or two people per street” to keep an eye out for the vulnerable people who live close by. The council also said that, via the parish, efforts could be made in regards to any items that need collecting, such as prescriptions and food.

A SALON owner is celebrating five decades of offering hairdressing services to residents in a Moorlands village. The Hair Studio in Forsbrook opened it's doors in Chapel Street on November 11, 1969. Glyn and Dot Mills initially ran the salon with a partner, Jim Johnson who went on to teach at Cauldon College.

A PARISH council has been given the opportunity to take over the running of a village's public toilets – an asset that previously drew complaints from residents due to opening hours. It was revealed at Forsbrook Parish Council's recent monthly meeting that the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) has given the parish council two choices in regards to taking over the running of the public toilets which are located on Cheadle Road in Blythe Bridge. Parish councillor Tony Holmes said: “There are a couple of options we've been given. One is that we take on the toilets and the district council stay as site owner.

A PARISH council's bid to register a former police station as a community asset has been turned down by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. Forsbrook Parish Council applied to register the former police station, secure houses and car park located on Uttoxeter Road in Blythe Bridge into an 'asset of community interest.' The scheme allows communities “to suggest buildings and land (assets) they consider to be of value to the community, to be included on a list maintained by the local council.”

A NEW bus route through the Moorlands and into Stoke-on-Trent is set to start next month. The service is set to offer residents of towns and villages the chance to travel to the city between school hours. Bus service Stanton's of Stoke will run the circuit which travels through Cheadle, Dilhorne and Blythe Bridge, stopping at Meir, Parkhall Estate and finally Hanley. The service starts on Tuesday, September 3 and will run from Monday to Friday with two routes going outbound and inbound from each of the 12 stops.

COMMUNITY leaders have slated the relocation of a village post office. Thursday, March 21 saw the Blythe Bridge Post Office reopen within the Forsbrook Spar in Cheadle Road after being relocated from it's previous venue in Uttoxeter Road in Blythe Bridge. The move means that post office customers in the area can benefit from increased opening times, however members of Forsbrook Parish Council have slated the move, stating their concerns over queues for post office customers along with increased parked cars in the area of the Spar shop.

A PROPOSED housing development for a Moorlands village has been given the red light by community leaders. The Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's Planning Committee has refused an “outline application with means of access for residential development of up to 14 dwellings” for land at Caverswall Old Road in Forsbrook. The plans, which had been recommended for refusal by an SMDC planning officer, had come under fire from councillors from both Forsbrook Parish Council and Caverswall Parish Council. The district council also received a further 33 letters of objection for the proposals, as well as 11 letters of support.

A PARISH council is calling upon residents to take part in a survey focusing on bus services in the area. Forsbrook Parish Council is running the public consultation following cuts made by Staffordshire County Council to bus services in Forsbrook. The parish council is now asking residents to tell them when and where they would like bus services to be operate through Forsbrook.
