The son of a popular Moorlands community figure has paid tribute to his father after he sadly passed away last month. Roy Colclough passed away on December 21, aged 80, after a lifetime of dedication to the area.

The duty manager of South Moorlands Leisure Centre in Cheadle has raised nearly £2,000 for charity after completing a gruelling three-day challenge. Shelley Barrett, who is also a Crossfit coach at Crossfit Napalm, took on the fantastic feat in memory of her sister Tammy Fowell who sadly passed away from cancer.

Two widows in the Moorlands have raised more than £3,000 for charity in memory of their husbands. Jo Upton and Mel Avery, who both live in Cheadle, recently completed a ‘March Walkathon’ in aid of both the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Walkers who put their best feet forward for charity, have handed over more than £11,000. The team behind the Gordon Banks Legend Walk have now handed over a total of £11,295 to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.

Her daughter, Liberty-Skye Dyas, has since been fund-raising in her mum's memory and has raised thousands for charity by hosting dog shows – both online and at venues.

MORE than £40,000 has been raised by Cheadle people in support of a town hairdresser. Duncan Cowan has been a supporter of the Douglas Macmillan Hospice over the past 42 years. Since 2010, he has taken an even more active role in raising funds for the charity – and this year his total has reached a whopping £33,000.
