A Moorlands couple have been going above and beyond to raise money for charities during lockdown. Alan and Anita Fowell, who live in Werrington, have been getting creative during lockdown in making themed wooden decorations which they have gone on to sell with all proceeds going to charity.

Student choir continues to raise funds for charity

A SCHOOL choir is continuing to raise funds for a hospice. The Cheadle Academy Sixth Form Choir began singing together in supermarkets during the festive period of 2017, following the sad death of their teacher Craig Beverley who passed away in October 2016. Since then they have raised thousands for the Dougie Mac charity which supported Craig and his family before he passed away after losing his battle with cancer.

Number one bid for fundraising students

A SCHOOL choir is aiming to reach number one in the UK charts with a song they are releasing in memory of a former teacher. Television presenter, panto star, and singer Jonathan Wilkes visited Cheadle Academy yesterday to help the school's Sixth Form choir prepare for their recording of their single 'My Oh My' at Staffordshire University today. The choir began singing together in supermarkets during the festive period of 2017, following the sad death of their teacher Craig Beverley who passed away in October 2016.

Students set to record song in memory of teacher

SIXTH form students from the Moorlands are set to record a charity single in memory of a teacher. Teenagers at Cheadle Academy Sixth Form College have been singing in supermarkets to raise funds for the North Staffordshire Douglas Macmillan Hospice which provides care for patients diagnosed with any life limiting illness and their families. Since December 2017, the choir has raised an incredible £14,500 for the charity which is locally known as the “Dougie Mac”, and will now record and release a song with help from Staffordshire University and performer Jonathan Wilkes.

Duncan’s Dougie Mac drive tops £40k

MORE than £40,000 has been raised by Cheadle people in support of a town hairdresser. Duncan Cowan has been a supporter of the Douglas Macmillan Hospice over the past 42 years. Since 2010, he has taken an even more active role in raising funds for the charity – and this year his total has reached a whopping £33,000.

£800 donation to Dougie Mac

A COUPLE have raised more than £800 after opening their Dilhorne garden to the public. Villagers and visitors from further afield enjoyed the fund-raising garden party at the home of John and Gill Hancock in August.
