A dog rescue charity is appealing for donations to help purchase an animal ambulance. Luosko German Shepherd Dog Rescue in Cheadle is hoping to purchase such a vehicle to be able to help even more animals in need.

A RESIDENT in the Moorlands has used her crocheting talents to create scarves and hats for the homeless as well as designs for frontline key workers too. Amanda Hollins, from Tean, took up the art of crocheting three years ago after seeing people have a go at it on YouTube. Since then she has donated her work to numerous charities over the years, such as Alzheimer's UK and the Royal British Legion.

A NEW scheme which donates uniforms to needy families has been set up by two members of a Moorlands community in time for the 2019/20 academic year. Ellie Smith and Beth Flashman have launched “Cheadle Staffordshire School Uniform Exchange” - an initiative that has already helped ten families and 20 children after just two weeks. DONATIONS in memory of a much-loved village character are to fund a commemorative bench in her honour. Tean Community Singers raised £635 at their Our Time concert, billed as 'An Evening for Joyce' in tribute to the late Joyce Plant, who was a stalwart member of the group. Joyce's husband, John Plant (pictured with Tean Community Singers treasurer Viv Laws), praised the organisers of the sell-out concert and all those who took part.

A DARTS player from Cheadle has stepped up to the oche for Prostate Cancer UK by raising £10,000. Sales of pin badges and wrist bands, as well as darts competitions and stalls at community events have helped Eddie Bailey, 65, top £10,000 in donations. And Eddie has also been part of the nationwide Team Darts for Prostate Cancer UK, which has so far raised more than £300,000.

A SCHOOLGIRL is planning to cut off her hair to help children battling illness and fund a charity dedicated to families bereaved by violence. Millie Dangerfield, nine, will have her long blonde hair chopped off in front of her classmates during a special assembly at Picknalls First School. The brave youngster will donate her tresses to the Little Princess Trust and donate sponsor money to The Moira Fund.
