An animal sanctuary in the Moorlands is appealing for donations as it tries to keep its explorative pigs out of harms way. Greenacres Animal Sanctuary in Dilhorne recently acquired the lovable rogues after finding out they would be sent for slaughter if a new home wasn’t found.

A rare breed of goat has been born at a Moorlands farm. The Angora baby goat, which has been named Hope, was born recently at Oakleys Farm, near Dilhorne.

Kind-hearted Joe plans trip to Zambia

A MOORLANDS student is embarking on a volunteering trip to South Africa this year. Joe Bailey, aged 16 of Dilhorne, will be travelling to Zambia in the summer to help build eco-shelters and also teach maths to South African children. Joe is taking the trip as part of the organisation 'African Impact', which is based in South Africa. He will be travelling out on June 30 and returning on July 15.
