Rotarians have donated money to install an automated external defibrillator (AED) on the side of the Leek Town Council Office. Brough Park, the council offices and library areas of Leek now have quicker access to one of the life-saving pieces of equipment, thanks to the generous donation from the Leek-based humanitarian group, which has fully funded the AED and its ongoing maintenance.

A Leek boxing club is the latest venue in a Moorlands town to have an automated external defibrillator (AED) installed – thanks to funds from a local legacy foundation. Keatesy’s Boxing Academy on Cruso Street in Leek and the surrounding area are now safer thanks to a charitable donation that has paid for the AED and its ongoing maintenance.

A COUNCILLOR is joining forces with a charity to launch a campaign to help raise funds to install 26 additional defibrillators in a town following the loss of its community response vehicle. Cheadle town councillor Elizabeth Whitehouse is fronting a campaign in alliance with AED Donate to increase the number of life saving pieces of equipment in her town, urging businesses and residents to donate to the cause. Stone-based AED Donate is a charity committed to “improving survival from out of hospital cardiac arrest,” championing the need for automated external defibrillators in the community.

RESIDENTS in the Staffordshire Moorlands were invited to carry out potentially life-saving training this week. Following the relocation of the defibrillator which was situated at the currently empty Alton Castle pub in Tape Street, Cheadle and is now at the Guild Hall down the road, a defibrillator training session was held at the community venue yesterday – Tuesday, March 12. The session, which saw around 40 participants, was open to anyone who uses the Guild Hall or who lives or works nearby, and was led by representatives of the AEDdonate charity which is based in Stone and is committed to improving survival from out of hospital, cardiac arrest, supporting the placement and use of an automated external defibrillators to local communities.
