A life-saving piece of equipment is to be installed at an iconic building and music venue in the Moorlands as a memorial to Leek born musician Chris Ellis who passed away earlier this year in Australia. Chris’s two sons, James, who also lives in Australia and Leek-based Richard decided that a great way to commemorate their father would be to install an automated external defibrillator (AED) at a local music venue.

A life-saving piece of equipment is to be installed at a town centre pub as a memorial to Leek musician Farnham Haywood who passed away in December 2019. Farnham played guitar, harmonica and sang in several bands including River Cards, The Bluesmakers and The Johnny Waterhouse Blues Band.

A Moorlands manufacturing company has donated money to install an automated external defibrillator (AED) at a hairdressers. The life-saving piece of equipment has been installed at The Salon on Westwood Road in Leek not far from Westwood Road Recreation Ground.

A total of five life-saving pieces of equipment have been installed in a Moorlands town in memory of a much-loved resident. David McNeaney, known as Macca to his friends, sadly passed away on New Year’s Eve 2020 after collapsing in Leek town centre, near to the Market Place.

A group of Leek businesses are once again clubbing together to raise money and gift donations for a local appeal for families struggling financially after another difficult year. Dave Swarbrook and Mark Brammar, from the Creative Hub at the Foxlowe Arts Centre, are coordinating the appeal along with the Fox & Crow Gallery, which is housed in the same building.
