A COUNCIL is considering refurbishing seats its members use during meetings – something that could cost thousands of pounds. Cheadle Town councillors discussed whether they should go ahead with the re-upholstering of chairs or not, at a town council meeting at the council chambers, located on Leek Road, on Monday (March 2). The council hires out the historic chambers from the owner of the property, and uses the room for full council and extraordinary meetings.

A TOWN council will move back to its former home next week – just before celebrating it's 125th anniversary next month. Cheadle Town Council will get the keys to move back into the former council chambers, located on Leek Road, on Monday (November 18) as they hold their first council meeting at the venue since leaving five years ago. The building was sold some years ago to a developer who has turned most of the property into residential apartments, but who has also kept and refurbished the council chambers room which he is now making available for use by Cheadle Town Council.
