Council agrees move on shopping precinct

A council has stated that it has been “working proactively” with the owners of a shopping precinct prior to announcing that it will be placing a Compulsory Purchase Order on the site. We reported earlier this month that East Staffordshire Borough Council (ESBC) had announced that they are to make a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) for The Maltings in Uttoxeter.

First glimpse of how new shop will look

Graphics depicting the proposed appearance of a new Co-operative store that is due to be built on a Moorlands high street have been released. Applicants SEP Properties Limited were granted planning permission by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) to transform the Blacks Head Inn pub into the shop in 2020.

Decision to close shop “not taken lightly”

A NATIONAL supermarket chain has revealed that a decision to sell a store in a Moorlands village was “not taken lightly”, after a resident raised concerns about the loss of the store at a parish council meeting recently. The Times and Echo reported in September that Co-operative was set to sell its branch on Uttoxeter Road in Blythe Bridge in October. The store is now independently owned and run as a Nisa. At a Forsbrook Parish Council meeting on Monday, November 18, a resident asked if the council could write to Co-op to find out what the reasons were behind selling the shop.

Village store sold

A VILLAGE food store has been sold by a national chain and is set to be an independently run store. The Co-op Food store in Uttoxeter Road in Blythe Bridge has been sold by Co-op and is set to become an independently owned and run Nisa store. A spokesman for Co-op confirmed that the company has sold their Blythe Bridge store to Nisa.
