A POPULAR waterpark in the Moorlands has temporarily closed this week after staff and visitors reported irritation to their eyes and throat. The incident happened at Alton Towers Resort at around 1pm on Monday (March 2). A total of 39 people - 33 adults and six children – were assessed by medical staff while an investigation “focusing on air quality” was carried out by Staffordshire Fire & Rescue.

A LOCAL authority has apologised to residents in the Moorlands after public toilets frequently remained closed when they were due to be open. Public toilets that are located on Cheadle Road in Blythe Bridge, which are supposed to be open from 8am to 6pm every day, have been shut for lengthy periods of time, prompting complaints from residents. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) are responsible for the maintenance of these water closets.

FIVE nights of closures on the A50 have been cut to four. Work originally planned on the eastbound carriageway near Uttoxeter, due to begin yesterday, is no longer necessary after engineers rescheduled the work programme.
